Global Warming

Global Warming, Climate Change and Disaster Mitigation

Indonesia is one country in the world who have a high level of biodiversity (mega Bio deversity) and therefore they have a very large field of food, cosmetics, medicines and as an absorbent of greenhouse gases. Straddling two continents, Asia and Australia and two oceans: Pacific and Indian Oceans, so are the four "engine" the world's climate, as well as the driveway of an outflow from the Pacific, so that potentially the world as a barn animal protein derived from the sea.

Besides having the potential of abundant natural resources, Indonesia is also located in the area of the ring of fire "ring of fire" so that the potential occurrence of natural disasters especially earthquakes and tsunamis.

Unlike other provinces in Indonesia which has a large land area, the Province consists of small islands with an area of ocean at 93%. Has a unique marine ecosystem, namely the deep ocean and shallow reefs, mangroves, sea grass, is "Welling up", and has the potential of the abundant fisheries and mineral potential, both at sea and on land, which has not been widely exploited.

Despite having abundant natural resources, the people of Maluku is generally classified as poor, "poor" level of energy and have low education and skills as well.
The phenomenon of global warming, climate change and excessive exploitation by people who are poor and less educated are expected to threaten damage to the environment and natural resources that are available.

Given the impact of global warming and climate change can not be prevented and its "massive", then funding is needed especially to small islands to the cost of adaptation and mitigation, and intervention technologies to reduce impacts.

Relevant Issues:

1. Impact of global warming and climate change on small islands which include: marine and terrestrial ecosystems, food security, health, defense; social-economic)
2. Sustainable management of biological resources in an era of global warming and climate change on small islands.
3. Management of environment-friendly mining materials, including handling the post-mining reclamation on small islands.
4. Role of the sea: Emitter or absorbent carbon dioxide gas?
5. Eco
technology:
* Greenhouse gas control technology
* Technology adaptation and mitigation to the impacts of global warming and climate change.
* Strengthening the application of technology early warning system in order to anticipate the emergence of a natural disaster.

6. International funding to the impacts of global warming and climate change on small islands.
7. Forest-based eco-tourism, sea, sun and culture of coastal communities.
8. Disaster management in small islands.

Target:

1. Identify all potential resources in small islands are highly vulnerable to global warming and climate change.
2. Identify all potential resources in small islands and the sea that is important to control greenhouse gases.
3. Formulate an action plan of sustainable management of biological resources in small islands.
4. Prepare blueprint "management" environmentally friendly mine in small islands.
5. Prepare blueprint disaster management in small islands.
6. Improve the bargaining position of "small islands", in international funding for the costs of adaptation, mitigation and technology from the impact of global warming and climate change.
7. Formation of international networks in research on small islands and climate change, especially with UNPATTI.
8. Prepare blueprint Eco tourisme forest-based, sea, sun and culture of coastal communities.
